![]() Lastly let me be the first to clear up a nasty rumor that shook myself and the Bay Area's Hip Hop community last week. Vidal, lead rapper of the Bay Area's top selling, hottest group The Delinquents was supposedly shot and killed last week. Calls started coming into the radio station the day after news reports indicated that a man had been shot in killed on Plymouth Ave in East Oakland. That neighborhood is in the vicinity of where Vidal usually kicks it at.. Vidal was coincidentally out of town by the time the reports started circulating so everyone from close friends to fans believed the accounts. No one could get a hold of him since he was trying to get away and take a much needed break from the business. Luckily we held off and never announced it on the air.. But the story was initially believed and had all of us shaking our heads and feeling bad. I know for myself I had just spoken to Vidal a few days before the incident and was happy to see how far he and his partner G-Stack had come over the last year. These guys had really put in a lot of hard work over the past few years and it was just starting to payoff. Their album 'Bosses Will be Bosses is a masterpiece and there aren't too many places you can go and not here it being played. Their current single 'That Man' blew up to the point that it's one of the most requested records at our radio station. This whole Deliquent story falls in line with all the other Hip Hop urban rumors ranging from 2Pac being alive to Juvenile of Cash Money being shot.. Well to make along story short, the story wound up being a big rumor that quickly got circulated. Some one had either deliberately or erroneously put two and two together [the shooting location and where Vidal hangs at ] and set things off. Well at least this story had a happy ending.. I guess in light of the Puffy and Jay-Z incidents, also the Digital Underground incident where two members were arrested and accused of sexual assault, all visible artists are gonna have to watch their backs and seriously be careful. In the Digital Underground scenario, it was really a thing of two cats within their entourage hooking up with a couple of white women after a concert in the Little Rock, Arkansas. Supposedly one of these women had a boy friend and was cheating on him. This is where things got heated. It was a combination of the whole interracial thing and a jilted lover.
